Big John

Big John, a 2,800-pound Belgian draft horse, rests for a moment following his rescue, via sling and truck-mounted winch, from the icy waters of the pond at his Wyckoff home. The saving of Big John, billed as the world's largest horse in 1977, required a cooperative community effort by police, firemen and friends, including volunteers from the Amateur Horseman's Association.
