The Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow annual film festival is open to all high school age students who reside in Bergen County and will be collecting entries 9 a.m. tomorrow at Ridgewood High School, 627 E. Ridgewood Ave., Ridgewood.
The kickoff event will introduce the 2009 JFOT Best of Fest winner Diana Lampiasi of Ridgewood High School. Students will also screen Lampiasi’s short winning film Don't Unplug the Arts.
Also on hand to speak to Ridgewood High School students will be Bergen County native Marc Perez of Sirk Productions Digital Films in New York City. Perez is the producer of the newly released film Severe Clear, which is about the war in Iraq and currently being screened in venues on Los Angeles and New York City. Directors Guild of America's vice president and ABC's One Life to Live director Gary Donatelli will also be at the kickoff event.
The JFOT entry period runs from March 18 through July 2, and entry forms can be obtained on the Web site jerseyfilmmakersoftomorrow.org. Films must be completed and returned by Sept. 17. A panel will choose the finalists and those films will be screened 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at Media Mix Studios in Allendale. Following the screening, the 2010 winners, including Best of Fest winner, will be announced.
The Best of Fest winner receives $500 and 72 hours post production in Sirk Productions Studios in New York City.
