New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has been selected as this year's Man of the Year by the Northern New Jersey and Rockland County Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The organization’s annual Dream Gala black-tie event – this year themed "Wild For a Cure" – is set to take place May 1 at The Sheraton Crossroads in Mahwah.
Former New York Giant Howard Cross will emcee the event that directly benefits the chapter and honors Jacobs for his ongoing commitment and support of type 1 diabetes research.
"Recognition as this year's JDRF Man of the Year gives me a great opportunity to educate people about the seriousness of type 1 diabetes," says Jacobs. "I am truly honored by this award and look forward to a great event that will result in funding research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications."
