Rotary Club of The Palisades, NJ's winter outerwear drive, which ran from November 2009 through the end of February, received more than 249 pieces of winter outerwear. Gently used and new adult men's and women's winter coats, jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves were collected to help people in need throughout north Jersey.
Libraries in the towns of Leonia, Edgewater, and Palisades Park and State Farm Insurance in Englewood participated as drop-off sites in the club's first winter outerwear drive.
All the winter clothing donated to the drive was distributed to nonprofit organizations serving people in need in Bergen, Passaic and Morris counties. The following seven nonprofits received and distributed the winter outerwear collected to people they service: Bergen Family Center in Englewood and Hackensack; New Jersey Buddies and Bergen CAP (Community Action Partnership) of Hackensack; Community of Friends in Action in Leonia; Franciscan Community Development Center in Fairview; Paterson YMCA in Paterson; and Morristown Homeless Coalition in Morristown.
