On Saturday, Jan. 23, members of the Junior League of Bergen County (JLBC) picked up their paint brushes to help give the children who attend the Vincente K. Tibbs Child Development Center in Englewood a clean place to learn.
The JLBC is a charitable women’s organization dedicated to improving children’s health and wellness, which has been serving Bergen County for the past 76 years. Members and guests volunteered to paint the classrooms and hallways of the facility with paint donated by Joseph Pisarri of Eagle Paint and Wallpaper Co Inc. in Englewood.
The Vincente K. Tibbs Child Development Center provides daycare and nursery schooling for approximately 90 students between the ages of 2-6. Executive Director Janice Samuel-Powell comments that the project has already had a positive impact upon the students, their families and the staff. She adds that the “children feel good about their new surroundings and this has really made their environment more warm and nurturing.”
The project is part of the JLBCs’ Done in a Day program, which consists of intensive community projects, throughout the county, that are each completed in a single day.
