Senior adults from the Kaplen Adult Reach Center (ARC) – the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades adult day care for seniors with Alzheimer’s and related forms of dementia – recently held a bake sale featuring homemade cookies to raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti. Personally committed to showing their support, they manned a table in the JCC lobby and sold their fresh baked goods to JCC members and staff, and in a few brief hours, raised more than $300 for the cause.
"ARC members are of a generation that believe it is necessary for everyone to take responsibility to help others in crisis and they were therefore very proud to bake, brave the cold and raise funds for Haiti," says Vivian Green Korner, director, Kaplen Adult Reach Center.
