The Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties held is 62nd Annual Founder’s Day membership meeting and awards presentation on June 10 at the Auditorium in Bergen Regional Medical Center.
Founded in 1947, The Arc has provided opportunities for all citizens of Bergen and Passaic Counties with intellectual and other disabilities attain and maintain fulfilled and independent status within their own communities.
This year seven awards were presented to those who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to help The Arc achieve its goals. The Bill Sackter Award went to Steven Capodanno; Volunteers of the Year were Mr. & Mrs. Greg Lake; Education Professional of the Year was Elyse Schifrien of the Bleshman Regional Day School in Paramus; Professional of the Year was given to Anne Maiello Lacey; Health Care Professional of the Year was awarded to Georgeann Talbot and her staff at Maple Glen Center in Fair Lawn; and the 2009 Distinguished Community Service Award was presented to Fanny Meyer Hillers School in Hackensack.
