When it comes to Edgewater’s Mira Théraube, her husband, Jacques, and her son, Alon Berkowitz, style knows no boundaries.
Emporio Armani, Havaianas, Miu Miu, Pal Zileri ... the three dark-haired stunners shine in these labels and more. The family is always open to new design ideas and a fresh look – an attitude perfectly befitting this international trio.
The common thread? A livelihood based in promoting fashion for others. Mira, who emigrated from her native Israel 14 years ago, is a professional model with a long list of print and TV credits to her name. (In the industry, she’s called Mira Tzur). Jacques, who grew up in Oradell but exudes the flair of his French roots, owns a company that creates clothing for other manufacturers. Even 9-year-old Alon (born in this country, but sporting a Hebrew name) enjoys accompanying his mom and stepfather on the occasional work-related trip, when third grade at The Elisabeth Morrow School, Englewood, allows.
The waterside condo where the trio lives affords easy proximity to Manhattan for work, and easy strolls – or two-wheel rides – along the boardwalk. Cosmopolitan living, with leisure activities right outside their door. Talk about a luxury view!
Mira, who hails from the Tel Aviv suburb of Herzliya, came to the U.S. after completing her mandatory Israeli military service. A classically trained dancer and actress, she has logged several TV appearances, including the NBC sitcom 30 Rock (as Alec Baldwin’s receptionist). Mira has also been featured in numerous commercials, for household names that include Macy’s and Foxwoods Resort Casino.
But in her down time, this busy mom is always up for taking in a few scoops with Alon and Jacques at Baumgart’s Café in City Place. Dessert is one thing that’s never out of fashion.
The family continues at its usual hectic pace this spring. When he’s not on a quick jaunt downtown with Mom, Alon is pursuing his interests in aikido, violin, piano and baseball, while splitting his time between Edgewater and his father’s home in Alpine. Mira is thrilled to be the face of a newly launched tourism campaign for the island of St. Maarten, and will be seen in upcoming print ads for Verizon, Advil and Zoombak. And, Jacques
